VHS - DVD Transfers

Oaklands offers a fast and easy way of getting your memories off the deteriorating and obselete VHS video cassette format and onto the high quality DVD digital format before it's too late. VHS is fast becoming obselete, in much the same way cassettes were when CDs came in. In the next year or so we will see an end to analogue video tapes and DVDs will become the standard. Get your holiday videos, wedding videos, dance recital videos, etc all put onto DVD now so you can get rid of the VCR for good.

DVD formats are still up in the air at this stage, there are currently five formats, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW and DVD-RAM. The latter is mostly used for data storage so we'll forget about that one for the moment. DVD-R and DVD+R are once-only recordable formats, these discs will play back on most DVD players produced since the year 2000. DVD-RW and DVD+RW are re-writable formats that only play on DVD players released within the last year or so. The good news for you is that we can burn DVDs in any of these formats. We know what formats work with what players and if you specify the player you have we can make sure it's compatible.

We offer a fast no fuss method of direct transfer from VHS to DVD (or camcorder, DV camera, etc) to DVD. This method gives you a DVD with markers placed every 5-6 minutes along, much like the tracks on your CDs. We also offer a DVD Authoring service where we add custom menus with scene selection and titles.

In order to provide you with a no fuss quick and easy way to get your old video onto DVD we offer a service where you post the video to us, we do our thing and return the video and recorded DVD back to you via express post.
