Band Recording - Bands have the option to record the band all together "live" or to record each instrument seperately "overdub".

Recording Live is the quickest and cheapest way to record. Great results can be achieved this way and small errors can be repaired and dropped in quite easily. Generally a well rehearsed band can record and mix a four song demo in two days. This is the best method for inexperienced bands who want a cheap good quality demo produced in a matter of days. Overdubbing is a slightly longer process where you lay down the drums and bass first, then add the rest of the rhythm section (guitars, keys, etc), then the horns/strings and finally vocals. This gives us more control over individual sounds and any errors can be fixed quickly and easily. This is the best method for recording high quality demos, EPs and albums. Oaklands has a variety of tools to help your production sound as good as possible. We have a wide range of samples and sounds linked up to Roland keyboards and a V-Drums electronic kit. We can add a Steinway piano sample sound to your mix, string sections, brass sections, pads and various percussion and drum sounds. We can even trigger the sounds on your drum kit to make them sound like Steve Gadd's kit.

We can take your production from start to finish, offering advice on pre-production, recording and mixing the album, mastering and cutting to CD or DVD. We can even help you out with the graphics and artwork.

Post Production - Audio post production covers things such as audio for film and television, advertising, re-mixes, digital editing and processing.

We can take care of all the audio requirements for your film or television production. This includes editing in music cues, sound effects and dialogue. We can put together your material or supply music and sound effects from our database. Our composition team can even write the score for you. We will make sure all the appropriate copyright details are taken care of and can help you out with the business side of the production. We also offer ADR services if required. Surround Sound is a necessity in film and television production today. With the advances in digital mediums such as DVD, Digital Television and High Definition Television, surround sound is becoming the standard. There are a variety of surround formats ranging from simple Dolby Prologic up to the digital AC3 standard used in DVD and HDTV production. We can cater for mixing in surround sound whether it be for a film/TV, advertisment or even a concert mixed in surround onto DVD. We currently support the Dolby Pro Logic, Pro Logic II, Digital AC3 Stereo, Digital AC3 5.1 Surround, Digital EX 6.1 Surround and DTS formats. Our new mix room has been designed and built to meet the 7.1 THX PM3 standard.

Our advertising services are the same as our film and television services. We can supply all the required music, sound effects and find someone from our database to do the appropriate voice overs. We can remix your multitrack recordings. You can bring in the multitrack you've recorded in another studio or at home and have the material professionally mixed and mastered. With the current technology available it is quite easy to record a quality sounding demo or EP in your own home. The thing that lets a lot of home based productions down is the mixing process. We can take your rough multitrack and turn it into something great.

Another service we offer is hiring of a digital recording system. A Nuendo, Pro Tools or Fostex hard disk recording system is available for hire along with a number of mic preamps, compressors and microphones. We can digitally edit, convert or restore your exisitng audio material. Services include shortening songs for radio play, cutting music to fit into advertisments or film/television, audio restoration of tapes and records or transferring audio to and from formats such as DAT, minidisc, cassette, vinyl, CD, DVD, wav, aiff, internet audio, video game audio and MP3. We can convert many types of audio into almost any other format. Prices start from $40.00 inc GST per hour. We also do a wide variety of video format conversion.
